Asian Corporate Director Award

Much like how Rome was not built in a day, a truly successful company does not simply materialise by chance nor by luck overnight. Rather, behind a well-managed, sustainable, transparent and ethical company is a group of dedicated men and women who have been driving its success and through their efforts has resulted in building a solid track record over the years.

These highly professional individuals have been devoting substantial time and effort to instill high standards of business ethics throughout the corporation, while simultaneously meeting the expectations of their shareholders in developing their business.

The prestigious awards recognise the outstanding corporate directors from boards of public and private companies in Asia who have been exemplary leaders in astutely guiding their boards and senior management in growing their companies, while just as importantly maintaining the ethics and conscience of their boards.

It is imperative that directors demonstrate effective leadership and establish a framework of processes and systems that can make the organisation operate effectively and efficiently. At its core, they are entrusted to arrive at informed decisions and exercise reasonable care and diligence on behalf of the organisation. As such, they must always act in good faith in the best way possible to promote its long-term success. When it comes to encapsulating an organisation’s ethical standards, it is paramount that directors capably set the tone at the top and lead by example, which can be reflected throughout all levels of the firm.

Directors need to be able to manifest their confidence across a wide spectrum of areas to become truly effective leaders:

  1. Demonstrating strong leadership such as following through on governance initiatives which is critical to establishing a culture of good corporate governance encompassing good planning, efficiency, transparency and accountability.

  2. Achieving success through bringing an innovative approach to their respective marketplace which has resulted in delivering a competitive advantage to their company.

  3. Built a strong track record of spearheading credible growth and putting development plans in place to further build on the company’s success locally and even overseas.

  4. Consistently attained financial targets and showcased an understanding of key challenges, customers and the competitive landscape of the industry.

  5. Implemented specific initiatives that have promoted diversity and inclusion at the workplace, providing equal access to opportunities and valuing people for what they bring to the organisation.

  6. Integrated the success and smooth running of the company with a strong sense of responsibility and consideration for their role as a corporate citizen.

  7. Awareness on the impact of the company’s business operations on all aspects of society including economic, social and environmental factors.
